Miss Selina Alys Zapata and Dr. Andres Martin Bur were united in marriage at 3 p.m. March 26, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McAllen, TX. the double-ring ceremony was officiated by Father Thomas Luczak.
The bride’s parents are Ms. Dora Zapata & Mr. Erasmo Zapata of Edinburg, TX. Parents of the groom are Dr. Martin Burr of Belchertown, MA and Ms. Eileen Claveloux of Holyoke, MA.
The bride wore an ivory embroidered, silk organza, strapless sweetheart drop waist gown, with a cascading ruffle, chapel length flower skirt designed by Monique Lhuillier.
The bride’s headdress was an ivory orchid headpiece, with a custom made angel cut, two-tiered chapel length veil adorned with delicate edging.
The bridal bouquet consisted of ivory and spice orange roses, adorned with ivory ribbon and an heirloom vintage brooch.
Matrons of honor were Sofia Buford of Belchertown, MA and Carolyn Pace of Bellevue, Nebraska.
Bridesmaids were Diana Cornely of new York, new York, Clarissa Dominguez of St. Louis, Missouri, Maritza Mercado of Washington, D.C., and Laura Rosner of new York, new York.
Flower girls were Hanna Munoz and Laney Munoz.
Best man was Mikael Ohlsson.
Groomsmen were Adam Campbell Strauss, Jacob Claveloux and Brian Kristoff.
A reception was held at Quinta Mazatlan in McAllen, TX.
After a wedding trip to Bariloche & Buenos Aires, Argentina, the couple resides in Philadelphia, PA.
The bride graduated from Edinburg North High School in Edinburg, Texas in 2002 and obtained a B.A. in Economics/Political Science with a concentration in Latino Studies from Columbia University in new York NY in 2006. She also obtained an M.C.P. in City & Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA in 2010. She is currently employed as a Transportation Planner with AECOM in Arlington, VA.
The groom graduated from Amherst Regional High School in Amherst, MA in 2000 and obtained a B.S. in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Physics from Tufts University in Medford, MA in 2004. he also obtained an M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA in 2011. he is currently an Otolaryngology Resident at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.
